The Adventure Park at Sandy Spring proudly presents Adventure Axes: the DMV’s premier outdoor Axe Throwing venue! Ever heard of Axe Throwing tic-tac-toe? Our state of the art projected targets have several different targets and games to choose. Stick with tradition and throw at a bullseye or rev up the competition with a game of connect four.
All skill levels can enjoy this adventurous take on axe throwing, whether it’s your first time picking up an axe or you’re a seasoned pro!
Projected Targets
With built in scoring and timers, our projectors allow you to throw at traditional bullseye targets or choose from several unique games to amp up the competition!
Outdoor Space
Not your turn to throw? Take a seat at one of our high tops or picnic tables in the axe throwing area. Order online from our food truck if you'd like to munch while you throw!
Night Throwing
The projected targets come alive at night and our lanes are lit up for the ultimate after-dark axe throwing experience! Special Glow and Throw events coming soon!
Pricing
Axe throwing lanes are available to rent by the hour. Each lane has one target. Much like bowling, one lane can accommodate up to 6 people. Keep how eager people are to throw in mind when determining how many lanes to rent!
Lane rentals are exclusive to your group. Four lanes are available to rent.

Reserve
Your first step is to reserve a lane right here online. We have up to 4 available at once! Choose between 1-2 hours.
Fill Waivers
Upon reserving, you'll get a confirmation email with the waiver link. Be sure to share it with any others joining too!
Check In
When you get to the Park, head to the check in building to get wristbands. Plan on arriving 5-10 minutes early!
Orientation
Before you begin, a trained staff member will give a brief orientation on throwing, safety, and the projected targets.
Throw!
That's it! You'll have the lane to yourself along with tables and seating for the duration of your rental period.
Axe Throwing
Hours
Spring: 4/2 - 5/25
- Fridays: 3 PM - 10 PM
- Saturdays: 12 PM - 10 PM
- Sundays: 12 PM - 6 PM
Axe Throwing is open to ages 10 & up. Ages 10-17 must be accompanied by at least one adult 18 or older.
All participants will be required to fill out a waiver prior to arriving to the Park. Any minors under the age of 18 will need a parent/guardian signature. For frequent visitors: The Axe Throwing waiver is different from the climbing waiver.
Looking for the waiver? Access it in your confirmation email. If someone else reserved for your group, ask them to share the link with you.
Close-toed shoes are required to participate. While our axe throwing lanes are covered, the experience is outdoors! Be sure to dress for the weather accordingly.
Gloves are not necessary for axe throwing.
Cancellation Policy
We get it: plans change. Your reservation can be cancelled for any reason up until your start time for a rebooking credit that never expires. Upon cancellation, you’ll receive a gift card equal to the amount paid on your reservation. This gift card can be used towards any Park activity, including axe throwing, climbing tickets, and is valid in our Park Trading Post. Gift cards are not valid at the Food Truck.
You can cancel your reservation online by accessing your portal linked in the confirmation email. If you have another date in mind, you’re also welcome to call us to reschedule rather than cancel.
No-shows are inelegible for compensation.
Weather Policy
In the event of severe weather, axe throwing lanes may close as they are outdoors. In the event of any closures while you’re at the Park, your time may be extended if/when we reopen (subject to lane availability), or vouchers will be made available for you to use towards future throws that season! We offer 50% vouchers if you’ve gotten more than half of your time in, or 100% if you’ve gotten less than half. As we have a limited number of lanes, we cannot guarantee lanes will be available to extend your time. Weather vouchers issued for axe throwing will only be valid for axe throwing and cannot be applied to climbing tickets.
If the Park has to close for the remainder of the day due to severe weather, future reservations that have not started will be contacted and issued a full rebooking credit that never expires.
